My 2 week old daughter had blood work done today. The med tech used a lancet on her foot to cause bleeding. This was 7 hours ago and the wound is still bleeding. Is this normal ?

Yes, I have called her pediatrician and I'm waiting for the on call dr to return my call. I'm not talking about massive amounts of blood, it just shocked me that it was still flowing at all. This question is merely a way for a nervous new father to pass the time waiting for a call back.

Um no its not normal if your being serious you need to take her to the ER she may have clotting issues. But most places wont even let you leave until your child has clotted and a lancet makes such a tiny poke Im having a hard time believing your story since most 99% clot within a 45 second time frame

You could always use a little bit of hydrogen peroxide on the wound to help stop the oozing. After that, some antibiotic cream and a bandaid.

Is it actually bleeding or just seeping, if its just seeping (small amounts of blood like with a graze) cover with antiseptic cream suitable for her age and cover with gauze. If the bleeding is heavier call your GP asap and tell them what is happening, if they feel it is serious enough they will tell you to come in.
