I read that!! That's just crazy... the lenghts than some people would go to. And yes, water intoxication kills because your body is depleted from electrolites and other nutrients if you drink it in excess in a short period of time. Even water is bad for you if done too much!

It sucks.
107.9 was one of the best radio stations ever to listen to in the morning. Its sad everyone from the Morning Rave got fired :[. I think it's partly the End's fault & Jennifer's. I think I heard that Jennifer was some kind of nurse of something like that, so obviously she probably knew that drinking A LOT of water & not going to the bathroom was not good for her. But also The End got phone calls from nurses saying it was bad for the contestants.
And now because of all this, the radio station 107.9 might get canceled. They held a lot of concerts, including the Jingle Ball (sooo much fun). If 107.9 gets cancelled then they probably won't have the Jingle Ball that many people enjoyed going to.

So tragic.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda...the radio station should have checked the concept of the contest out with a physician.
As for the mom, and anyone else...is there anything that we won't do for something free?? Now, her children no longer have their mother, and she, a 28-year-old woman with her entire life ahead of her, is dead for nothing. Nothing!
I wonder if the kids will still receive the Nintendo Wii system. What a trade-off.

it is pretty funny i think. 10 people will never have a job again.
water intoxication isn't actually what one might think it is. It does not deplete electrolytes. It does have to do with electrolytes though. The extra water causes a difference in salinity between inside cells and outside fluids. This changes what was the osmotic pressure and causes the external fluid to rush into the cells to balance the change causing swollen organs and such.
if the contest used gatorade or even salt water, everything would have been just groovy.

I heard about it. I think its sad, but it could have been prevented. It was foolish on both the mother and the radio station's part. Last I heard, a lawsuit was in the works.

a stunt like this to win a gamming system..thats sad...as sad as it is that these kids are now without a mom i personally feel people need to be their own advocates and by that i mean looking into something before taking part in it...sure the radio station has some culpability in this i feel people need to read the fine print on waivers and maybe actually read them before signing things..the radio station in my opinion is guilty of neglegence and thats it...this lady was an adult and as an adult she needed to inform herself of what could happen...would any parent let their child take part in a stunt like this..probably not....so no her family can and will sue because of her stupidity and the station will settle to avoid admitting guilt and such and thats another issue in itself

pity her kids! when they release these game systems, why not build enough of 'em 1st to have plenty on hand, and stop the madness? riots in the stores for the dammmmmed things, people sleeping in lines for days... how nuts is that? can't ya just wait a couple of months?
imagine how crazy people would get if there was a shortage of stuff people actually NEEDED!!!!
