Once he signed with the Giants, he indicated that he may get rid of his big, little league curve ball. Do you think it is effective? He might be scared to use it given that he'll have to deal with McCovey Cove.

He has the slider and a change up. The round house is the one that the batters tee off on. That is why I think he is thinking about not using it at AT&T park. Maybe he'll use it in other parks.

Why should he get rid of it? Not too many national league hitters have seen this pitch up close and personal. Plus Zito doesn't have an overpowering fastball so he needs that second pitch to be effective. Granted he has a nice little change up but that curveballs break is wicked. This is why he needs to keep the curve. Zito will throw a fastball up and away from a hitter. The next pitch he will throw the curve. Nothing special right? Wrong. He starts both pitches at the same height only thing is that the curve will break towards the strike zone while the fastball sails high for a ball. That is why he is so tough. You don't know what pitch it coming until it is on you but by that time is too late.

good gracious why should he give up his best pitch in favor of his mediocre fast ball or something else? I am an a's fan and have loved watching him make knees buckle with the fabulous drop. Would you much rather he get the crap hit out of him with his other far less superior pitches? why would he be scared to use it at ATT? I would be more worried that he's a fly ball pitcher in a hitters park. No more awesome foul territory like across the bridge for him.

No way Zito puts it on the shelf. Dude is one of the best pitchers in MLB, I don't like the Giants but I am a Zito fan, what a workhorse, dude has a great mental make-up and is a stud on the mound. BZ also can play the guitar quite well almost John Mayeresque.

Any pitch that can make hitters jump out of the way and still be called a strike should never be given up. He should throw that thing until his arm falls off.

That curve is too sweet to give it up. It's his bread and butter pitch.
