How did he get all his piercings?
Sorry, I know its a terrible situation, but It bothers me that he has the piercings but then claims he was unable to escape?
All opinions welcome.. I am sure this won't fly with alot of people..thats okay. I am more courious than anything

If he got them in an piercing shop? Who gave them too them? He had his own myspace page and send emails according to the media!

he had his freedom and he had a cell phone and the use of the Internet and a email account and a bicycle that he road around
so you tell me ..he went back to this guy for 4 years
something is not right with this

I wouldn't be surprised if he did the piercings himself. I had friends when I was a kid who pierced their own ears. They even sale the self piercing guns at Walmart.
As for not escaping....Who knows what Devlin told him????? Devlin could have told him that if he tried to escape he'd kill him, his family and anyone else he cared about. Remember he was 11 when this started. He was just a child and now is a young man who is going to have to learn to deal and cope with all the judgemental people in this country. You can tell he's a strong person to have survived this long. I hope that the media will leave him and his family alone.
I pray to God that he is given all the help he needs.

I think Devlin had a mental hold on this kid. Remember he was only 11 years old when he went missing. This was a big a$$ man that took him and may have done God's knows what to him sexually and/or physically. Devlin might have been raping him. His parents should not have him out in public talking about this ordeal and having Oprah and the rest of the country stare at him like a freak. He needs to be at home trying to reconnect with his family and in intense therapy.

I am sad anyone would be asking, "why" of this kid. He was 11 years old when this happened. Mentally this kid has been crushed. By the grace of god, hope it never happens to a member of your family. This kid will be lucky if he ever enjoys a normal life again. Watching him on Oprah today, clinging to his father's hand like he was scared to death, made me want to cry for him. Now he will have to go out in this world, after 4 1/2 years and be harassed by ignorant people. How sad for a kid that's been through hell once, already.

I think he got his piercings from a nonpopular tatoo shop; like a place not very professional. And i mean he used Devlin as his last name, is all he could of done was gone in and said he was a parent. He had a cell phone, a myspace, a yahoo, a girlfriend, friends, he seemed like he had it pretty good.
He was aloud to go out on his bike and out with friends, the cops stopped him along the road a couple of times asking him why he was out so late. If he really wanted to go back home he could of.
After four years i think the "scardness" would of faded off and he would of tried to contact his family.
I watched Oprah today, and he seemed miserable, at first he acted all religious and crap but i watched the 2nd part of the show and he looked miserable. His parents talked about how they were going to never take there eyes off of him.
His life is now ruined, hes going to be completley sheltered.
His old friends, his girlfriend, hes never going to get to see or talk to them again probally. and then on public t.v. they talk about him being sexually abused.?!? how embarrassing
a they expect him to just be joyfully happy to go back in public.
I dont think he was kidnapped. I think this guy took him in, he wasnt happy is my perspective.

These kidnappers abuse the kids horribly on one side, and then give gifts to the kids at the same time (cell phone, video games, piercings, whatever). It's a sick mentality of course, a disease of the mind.

He was a free kid for the most part, but probably suffered from stockholm syndrome. A condition in which hostages come to identify with their captors

he had some piercings before he was kidnapped.Also,he was terrified of the man,and he was watched A LOT. He talked a little on Oprah today

When something like this happens the person psychologically bonds with the suspect, he could have been told that if he tried to escape that something terrible would happen to him or his family. so all that could of been keeping him there was fear and this frequently will happen between captors and their victims.

i have no clue how he got his piercings. they were for sure not done in an official piercing place because it's a hella time trying to get a piercing if your adult doesn't have your same last name. maybe one of the kidnappers knew someone that was a professional piercer that did it for him. oh yeah, do you know why he took them out? and cut his hair? i think he looks hotter with them in.
