Cut a piece out of a fairy liquid bottle. i used to do that all the time. you can cut it plectrum shape and to your exact size...It works brilliant as its very pliable...

Use your fingers, I like to use my thumb and first finger nail to make a kind of triangle shape. I think it's really good practice to make you a more versatile player
