Is there going to be an eightth Harry Potter Book?

No! Jo has planned it from the beginning, seven books, seven horcruxes, seven years at hogwarts, SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN! She says we won't need an epilougue or prequel by the end of book seven. She might write another supplemental book like Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them or Quidditch Through the Ages, but it will be for charity. She planns to write after Harry, though.

Rowling seems pretty definite in saying there will only be 7, and given how tightly woven the narrative has been throughout the first 6 books, and how much planning has gone into the series thus far, I doubt she's going to change her mind now.
Also, there seems to be some confusion in previous answers - Rowling is a woman...

Joanne Kathleen Rowling (J.K. Rowling) said that since she had planned seven books, that was what she was going to stick to. However, she did say she wasn't done writing about Hogwarts. She also said that her most likely Hogwarts-esque project would be a Harry Potter Encyclopedia.

However, a Harry Potter book is a billion dollar industry. There's a lot of people who will be asking Rowling to reconsider.

J.K. Rowling says she's not planning on it. If she decides to make a book about one of the other characters, then that'll work.
