why tails? we dont even have tails... whats that all about?

True we don't have tails. But why do you assume that the phrase has reference to us and our bodies? It could well be to other animals, which have a head at one end and a tail at the other.

So also does a coin. One side of the coin is termed head, because it usually shows the head of the sovereign (King or Queen). The other side, by the above analogy, is labelled tail.

In sum, it's simply an analogy, and probably not worth being too philosophical about.

I don't know which. But it is a 50/50 chance you will get the answer right! Joke....
What does it matter that we don't have tails (although we do have a tail bone - I broke mine several years ago and, for a useless bone, it was incredibly painful!) But since we don't flip humans, I guess it doesn't matter that we don't have tails. Since most coins have a head on one side, it is just the opposite to head, hence the term of tails. I suppose it could have been toes.....

The quarter has G. Washington's HEAD on one side and an eagle's TAIL on the other.

actually humans have tail bones, they just dont grow, and some people were born with tails
