Is it true that I will not have ANY periods for whole 5 years and will only have spotting for whole 5 years? I am hearing a lot of conflicting stories, if you have any positive or negative experiences, can you please share? Thanks.

I have had the Mirena for over six months. I had it placed on the 3rd day of my period. I haven't had a real period since then. Like the other women on here......I have had a lot of spotting.........but that is so much better then the heavy painful periods I used to have. The spotting is getting less and less now and an added bonus........no more PMS! Very pleased with the decision to get the IUD!

I have had Merina since October 2006 and I chose this course of treatment because my periods were becoming very heavy and painful. The first couple of weeks I had a "light" period, and in November, December and January I had "spotting" that lasted only a few days, but still had some of the same pre-period symptoms (fatigue and minor bloating), but no more heavy periods (yeah!!). Overall, this was the best decision I could have made because the beautiful part is if my fiancee and I decide to have a baby this will not do anything to negatively affect my fertility. Good luck!

I got a Merina put in August 2006 and I have only had 1 period, which lasted 3 days and since then have had spotting. The first couple of months I had spotting nearly every day, but the last couple of months has been barely any. Plus the biggest bonus of all- NO CRAMPS. I love it.

The Merina works differently for different women. I still had periods that lasted five to six days when I had mine, but they were not as heavy.

Please be careful though. After a year and a half, I developed an allergic reaction to mine. The symptoms were similar to a PID infection. I had to have mine removed and be treated with antibiotics.

My heavens, I certainly not were flashed, however I did by chance flash a couple of individuals as soon as. I used to be within the clinic a while again and made up our minds to take a stoll to the merchandising field. Well, I wasn't considering what I used to be dressed in and, permit's simply say that the ones clinic robes do not go away plenty to the creativeness at the bottom. The nurse got here up from at the back of me and positioned a blanket over my shoulders . . . I used to be thinking about why it used to be a bit of drafty again there!
