No question.
Linemen get pounded every play. Jammed fingers, cuts, scrapes, sratches, and extreme muscle fatigue.
One look at who has all the blood on a jersey tells you who hurts the most. O-line is probably the worst...

Quarter Back is the toughest.
I know that the line is very rough but the QB has so much to remember on each play plus all the pressure of the team doing well.
When the team wins, the QB gets too much credit...When they lose, he gets too much blame!
It's still the toughest spot!
No doubt the Center would be the most painful spot...Oft times his head is down, especially on the long snap...While there are some rules in place to help protect the snapper, they aren't always enforced and even if they are, you take a hard shot and 15 yards on the other team doesn't make the pain go away!I
QB is harder but I'd rather play THAT than be the center!

I would think the safety is the most demanding of positions. Yes lineman are in the trenches but usually are only responsible for one blocking assignment. Quarterbacks only have to be tough with respect to how good they are.. meaning if he gets rid of the ball quickly then he usually never gets hit....
So now Safety... the guy in the back... responsible for making sure no one gets by him... delivering a punishing blow when the pass is caught and plays run defense even though the full back can be twice his size and he still has to tackle him down.... its one thing to bring a person down when they are just starting from a dead stop out of the backfield but trying bringing down a speeding freight train on one play and then next play cover a very fast receiver . A safety is a linebacker with outstanding speed.
Sorry my vote of the most demanding and toughest has to be the Safety.

The position that is toughest or most difficult?
I believe the most difficult position on the football field is QB. He cannot take a play off because every offensive play goes through him.
After that, I would say linebacker.

Running back. They get hit at least once every time they touch the ball unless they make a TD. There's only usually one or two in a game for a team, and they'll see 20-40 touches, which means 20-40 hits. Plus, unlike the linemen, when they get hit the guy's coming at him already at full speed. You have to lower your shoulder and stick it back to them while they're doing it, too. Then factor in that they're blocking guys on passing downs, as well; guys that have taken 4-5 steps off the line already and are going fast.
Just look at Tiki Barber, for instance. He's retiring now, because of the beating he's taken thats slowed him down. Look at his twin brother Ronde, he's still playing and still fast even though they're identical twins.

I'd say the line is the toughest. Both sides. You get hit every play regardless.

WR but generally it's only the toughest when you're the only female on the team. You have to work twice as hard to be considered half as good.
