Money = hourlyrate * time or
Money = JobDifficulty + Bonus

My (and I'm sure 99% of everyone on this sites education) was not free.

Two possibilities. One, many people are ignorant and assume that for those with the know-how, it is inconsequential to do many of the things they ask. This is a simple education issue: teach people that building software is no different than building a car or any other complex machine - it takes a great deal of time and effort and knowledge that can't be obtained for free.

The second possibility is just that you are seeing a side of human nature - that is, selfishness/greediness/laziness - wanting something of value without providing anything of value in return.

I think it's great that people get their questions answered on here. If you feel uncomfortable answering them, then don't. Besides, it's not like they are going to punch you out if the answer is wrong. If they had to pay you for an answer that was wrong, they just might do that.
