I am 31 weeks pregnant and had a doctors appointment today. How cool are those 3D ultrasounds?? Any way they said my baby girl is 3 pounds 9 ounces. My doctor said the baby is at 59% on the bell curve- referring to weight. I have heard of the bell curve but never heard it when referring to pregnancy. She said it is nothing we worry about though, which of course made me worry. What does that mean that the baby is 59% on the bell curve???Is my baby a little on the big side??? Is that what she is referring to?? I teied to find info on the internet but could not find anything. I asked her what she meant by that and she said something about the babies size but I was still a little confused. I plan on asking her to explain it to me again but I thought maybe some of you have heard of this before. Thanks

50 % is considered average. Right now your baby is slightly above average. This can change though, especially after she is born. Relax, your baby is healthy. I wish I could get a 3D ultrasound, you're sooooooo lucky!

A bell curve is a normal distribution curve, you could try looking that up. Basically, there will be a few at the low end, a few at the top end, and the majority clustered around the middle. I THINK what the doctor was telling you was that you child sits in the weight range that 50% of babies occupy, in other words, she is pretty average.

She's just a little big but no big deal after all its better to have a heavier baby then a lighter baby. And she's not that much heavier. My son at 31 weeks was already 4 pounds. I had him at 35 weeks {no i was NOT diabetic} and he was 7 pounds even!

No - it means that she's right in the middle of the normal range - no worries :-)
