I like metaphors played on metaphors. The best example I have ever heard was just before a business I worked for went defunct. I had asked my boss how things were going and he said "Small boat, big ocean". It took me a long time to appreciate it, but I doubt I'll ever forget that one..... He ran a holiday resort. Guess where.

Benchwarmer: One who should be, but is not, actively involved.
To blow the whistle: To expose an otherwise concealed and illegal or unethical act of another.
