May not hurt the amp but you could definately blow a speaker. Guitar speakers generally can't handle the low Hz that a bass or a keyboard can produce. You would be OK at a low vol. but be really careful about pushing that cone.
This isn't a wive's tale. The spec sheet on your speaker's performanc ratings will show I'm right. A super quality speaker like a JBL might stand up to the stress but anything else is going to eventually be toast if you run a wide open bass signal through it. It's your speaker though... try it.

The audio equipment in guitar amps are not designed to reproduce the low frequencies of a bass guitar. in case you plug a bass guitar right into a prevalent guitar amp, it is going to paintings....yet you would be in extreme possibility of blowing your speaker. The louder you play, the greater the speaker cone desires to go, which will advance the possibility. in certainty, in case you play the bass at relatively low quantity, you would be ok. in case you hear the slightest little bit of distortion, returned off. think of of this as a short term answer so which you will prepare on your room at whisper quantity.

No. When I bought my first Starter Pack, they gave me a Guitar Amplifier and I didn't notice, I've been using it for ages, used it for band practice too, turned it max. volume and it hasn't been damaged yet. That's like an old wives tale ^^

Nope. Won't hurt it at all. It won't sound too hot, but it won't hurt it.
