the model of my tv is HITACHI 42PD9700, will this play hd visuals to the best quality the xbox 360 can produce. comet.co.uk sas it doesnt have component connections but other websites say it does. if it does have these connections will it be a top quality image?

Yes. Don't see why it doesn't have component if the tv can display 1080i. Check Hitachi website to make sure.

Well, if the TV won't display 1080p, then it won't display the absolute best the xbox 360 can produce. The 360 will output 1080p (better than 1080i), but most HD UK teles won't display at 1080p yet anyway. If you can, go to comet and ask to see a display model of that TV. That way you can check to make sure the TV has component connectors. Other than that, look on Hitachi's website for that particular TV and see if you can see specs on it. On Samsung's site, they have the Manuals downloadable for their teles, and you can actually see what the layout is on the back panel. Helped me make sure my 42" plasma had all the right bits on it for displaying HD for my 360 before I bought it.
