its different love...when you are in love with someone you find them sexually attractive and love them like a partner but loving someone is unconditional..no matter what they do you will always love them..he wins..he loves u more.

In love goes along the same lines as infatuation, only to a more serious extent, and if the realtionship ends it can go away. Love is a feeling of strong trust, compassion, and caring for a person, and if you truelly love someone, it lasts thru arguments and fights. I may be in love with my girlfriend, however i may love my best friend dave.

Being in love is usually at the begining of a relationship where the fireworks go off and your tummy churns but love is something deeper and more meaningful and develops over time. Its not as starry eyed but it stays the pace.

TRUE... it does... being in love with someone is not a fleeting thing. Love itself, i think can be however... at this moment i am loving my new couch but in 5 years it will probably be our of style and I will want a new one ... being N LOVE is like having a permanent etch in your heart... your man is pretty smart to top you in the "i love you the most" dept. But people you fall in love with never go out of style... :)

I think it means less. Loving is a verb- it's a behavior. Being IN love is acting like you have no control over what you feel- or don't feel.
When you get married, you don't promise to be IN love, honor and cherish for this reason.

If you're IN love with someone it usually is a partner, like you wouldn't love your family (hopefully) in the same way you love your bf/gf people say their in love too aswell as just loving them

Its different. I love my mother. I am not IN love with her.
But I think that in the context you are referring to, saying I love you is just a more concise and easier way of saying I am in love with you. If your boyfriend says they are different I would argue that he is just being pedantic.
Some genius has gone down this list of answers and put a thumbs down on every one. Come on now, own up, I want to set up a new religion in honour of your brilliance. I think I'm in love with you
