I'm a pretty active texter on my phone... and i have had my phone for more than a year now, and up to this point, texting has worked with no problem. But starting about a week ago, I noticed that my text messages would not send.
If i go to my outbox it will just say 'sending in progress', but it will say that on a message i tried to send 5 days ago.
the even odder thing is, I can recieve texts from people, but I still can't send them.
Anyone have any ideas to save me the trouble of having to phone my phone company?

I'm sorry to say that it is probably a problem with your phone. If it has any kind of warranty on it I would take it in while you still have that warranty left on it.

Take the battery out it might reset the phone.
