I have to type the equation for photosynthesis and I dont know how to make those small numbers under the letters. Im typing this on Microsoft word. How can I make those numbers?

For instance: CO2 (but I want the 2 to be much smaller, and underneath and still on the right of the O).

when you type CO2, highlight the 2 and click on format>font. and then on top of the preview page you will see a list of effects with boxes in front of them. if you want the 2 to be smaller as in a chemical symbol, click on subscript but if you want it to be smaller but on top as in x squared, click on superscript.

The little numbers are subscripts and there are two ways. Easiest:

1. Hold down CTRL button and push equals sign button.
2. Let go of those keys and type the subscript.
3. Change back to regular font by doing step one again.

Just a note: make numbers up high like (15 squared) the same way, except you hold down CTRL and Shift while you push the equals sign key.

Highlight the 2 and then go to the menu....goto format...font...and click on the box for either superscript (above) or subscript (below) the standard typing.
