How much private industry is there? How much is personal freedom restricted? How much political change has there been in recent years since Hong Kong returned to Chinese control?

there never has been a communist nation. communism is a share the wealth plan with democracy as an important part.
the chinese experiment is just another dictatorship that is old and fat and now trying out capitalism to solve their many problems.

I am not sure
but I do know there is privately owned stores and small companies,
But I do know this they use the most cement in the entire world, because they are building malls and housing and roads faster than anyone else in the world, ( this is why cement has more than doubled in price in the USA ) they are also right up there with the use of OIL also..

it's a combination of their own old imperial ways and the communist ideology...kinda the same way the Aztecs changed Christianity into their own version, bringing along a few of the old gods to keep the one god company...I couldn't imagine China democratic.
