I keep running into my desk at work and I get these massive bruises on my thigh almost everyday. My desk is mounted to ground, so I can't move it and there's a narrow passage between the edge of the desk and the wall wich is where I run into it - I hate it! What are the physical issues with getting constent bruises?

in karate training it is a technique called "harding"; two people "help" eachother to get the complete underarm bruised by banging those into eachother. It works two ways: in a match / sparring you don't get too much of a shock anymore when something hurts, because you've seen worse. Other effect is, that some pain-nerves get numb from the damage. so the actual amount of pain gets less....
have you noticed?
I guess the amount of bruises is not enough to experience this effect yet, so don't worry bruise on, it will get less and less disturbing. And sports is healthy ;-)

Well usually you will just get hurt, it actual depends on how hard you hit it. If you hit it soft, it's just a bruise, if you hit it hard enough, you could do slight damage
