Magizines, Bullies, Seeing all these "pefect" actresses on tv, breakups, wanting to be "skinnier" because if you can't fit into a 0 you're too fat, and even then you wish you were in the negatives, but more importantly, how other people treat them. I have low self-esteem as a teen because as a child I was chubby and my dad would call me pork chop and butterball, etc. And that hurt me, you can't tell me to get over it, I was like 8! And seeing all these "perfect" girls dosen't help, I was on the verge of anorexia. Best thing to do is always let them feel as though they are special, because when girls are happy, they are pleantiful and eat and are healthy. Happiness = Health. You can't be depressed/sad/upset and healthy.

It's very sad but a lot of teen girls don't have good role models at home or in the media. A lot of parents mean well, but they don't take the time to teach their children good values. They're not spending time with their teen and getting to know them, so they leave it up to the media and they start latching on to the celebs who are seen as cool because they have b.a.d(bogue and disrespectful) attitudes and are into drugs. And scantily clad "anything goes" girls are now the object of what beauty is all about. They don't have great self esteem because the media is laying the foundation for them instead of their parents. I'm praying for them. It's all I can do. God Bless! :)

Because, they don't have any good role models in their life. Society tells them how to dress and think so they could land a guy and they see these women in magazines or on t.v. and if you don't look like them or weight that much or whatever, then you aren't anything. And, when guys say things about women and girls on t.v and in the magazines and how hot they look then these girls think they are worthless, because, society and home etc tells them that they are. We still live in a sexist society that tells girls what they should look like and that the outer beauty is better than inner beauty. The outside counts, not the inside.

Pressure from the media. As a teenage girl myself,I can tell you that for sure.Everywhere you look, there are skinny, beautiful women. And if you feel like you don't measure up to that image, you're self-worth drops, and usually there's no one around to pick it up for you.I have a good self-esteem...This pressure isn't limited to just girls anymore, either.Guys have been pressured to be more muscular,hotter,etc...

I'm guessing its due to them listening to teenage boys and other teenage girls. No, I'm not guessing, teenagers are the meanest people on earth, mean to each other, mean to their parents and siblings, teachers, etc. , but they are especially hard on each other. Teen girls need to stick together, not fight over teenage boys.

It's a trying time in our lives and we're developing who we are, and when we see girls that are skinnier or more successful or better looking then we feel more bad about ourselves.

society shows them that they how no worth except their bodies, and most are not comfortable with their bodies yet, as they've recently gone through some dramatic changes. and then @ hole guys use & abuse those bodies which takes away any worth they actually did have and they begin to resent their bodies and feel completely & utterly worthless.
