If he has a boat how about a Captains hat.
Otherwise a nice designer shirt (try TK Max if he's 55 he won't notice if it's last seasons, I'm 44 and I don't)
A striped french onion sellers shirt?
If he's young at heart Weird Fish do some nice tops that are sort continental/ fisherman/ surf dude sort of ish
Good luck

How about a short break to France - he gets to go on a boat, speak french, eat good food and brush up on some culture.

How about a really well made model boat? My dad liked that, however his main present was a skydive. How about one of those red- letter- days (days out i.e. f1 driving/spa whatever), umm a painting of somewhere that has a lot of meaning to him, maybe even a pet?
Hope this helps, a tad random I admit lol.

maybe a cookbook with International/ french cuisine, snorkeling gear , a compass for his boat a first aid kit to keep on boat (including vitamins and sea sickness pills) , satellite radio and mobile, inflatable like raft, a flare gun and lots of flares!!.....
I have all these on my boat and they do come in handy, you never know what may happen out at sea.....

if he seems to have everything then.. buy a small notepad and on every page write him an i.o.u. with special things on... rude sexy stuff and simple things like running him a bath, washing his hair... will make him smile i am sure!
