How would you feel if your dad was king and you were supposed to be king next, but then instead of choosing you he adopts a son to be king. How would you react? What would your feeling be toward the son he adopted? What would you do to the son he adopted?

If I was raised to expect that I'd be next to inherit the throne, groomed for the position and I knew nothing other than I was going to be the king, then I'd feel pretty ripped off.
Adoption makes the person part of the family and that would mean my brother would be taking my place. I'd be angry at my father and feel sorry for my brother for being put in a position that caused conflict.
I'd fight it though the legal system. Eventually we'd all loose and the royal corgi would become the next monarch.
Scenario over.
BTW - I hated that you used adoption in such a fashion.
As mother to 2 adopted children, it showed me a lack of acceptance into the family. An adopted child is not second rate.

Depends on if I wanted to be king or not.
If I didn't I would feel relieved.
If I wanted it I would show my dad that I could do a way better job then the adopted son!!
Show my dad he made the wrong decision.

Being second banana is not as bad as being a lowly serf. I'd cash in and make myself the "black sheep" . All of the money and none of the responsibility.

Probably angry and might consider cutting myself out of his life but then I would be doing what a spoiled brat would do.
