What is Diversity important to you?

I'm trying to write a compelling diversity statement and am eager to hear about your thoughts!

Diversity is not just physical, diversity, real diversity are the differences beneath the skin that go down to the very core of our beings that make us who we are. Diversity is me liking classical music and the next person liking country music, me being politicaly nuetral and the next person being a complete liberal, it is what allows us to see different things from different angles and perspectives. I as a person need to rely on you to have different thoughts, ideas, beliefs for my own safety. Sometimes it is someone elses perspective that keeps us safe from ourselves. Example, I think it's a good idea to build a bridge across a river at the edge of a cliff. I have researched it, I know I have done the calculations on my bridge design and I think them to be flawless because I think the most important thing about a bridge is the design of the bridge itself and it's ability to withstand weight. Without diversity in thinking, everyone would agree with me, with diversity, you come along and say, "Yes, the design is important but there are other important aspects as well, for instance, you have not taken into account other factors like major earthquakes in the area and no where in your bridge design are there any safety measure to keep the bridge in one piece if a earthquake was to hit. On top of that you want to build a bridge on the ground that is so soft you would have to drive a foundation 2 times the normal depth in order for it to support the weight of the bridge, no where in your design do you account for that, if one car were to drive on the bridge it would surely bend and collapse under it's weight and the weight of anything on it." See, I need you to be diverse, we all need diversity. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt to have someone challenge your ideas or to be different because that means you have to compramise but any unwillingness to compramise is an obvious tell tale sign that someone is more concerned about themselves than they are about the greater good of the entire whole. Whatever the whole may be, in the case of my example with the bridge, the whole would be anyone who uses the bridge. If you were to present your ideas to me and I was more concerned about being right and having my own way just to fulfill my own ego, than you would see that I might not be the right person to design this bridge for people to use because you would see what my true intentions would be. So diversity acts also as a checks and balance system that is engrained to the very being of who we are. I hope this helps and good luck

the reason I think diversity is important is because for to long people where dis-included in alot of things based on their sex, race or religion.

having diversity at places like schools and jobs is also very important because one of the biggest reasons we have racism is because people don't know people of other races and so they can only judge them by what they see on the media. By getting to know a real person they can break those stereotypes that where pushed on them.

Diversity is a way of using reverse racism without people yelling racism .
Oh we need more this group or that group of people in your company , so lets fire the someone who dose not fit your category of people and give the job to them.

define what you advise by using variety. in case you advise participation in society of all and sundry all races, all gender orientation, all able bodied and disabled individual, all religions, all socioeconomic instructions, then specific i think of variety has a place of beginning up society so as that we can decrease down the obstacles between us. In concept variety ought to make a contribution to us being greater tolerant and arranged to verify the worldwide from others factors of view. Being societal underdogs could be much less as human beings could get to be attentive to persons particularly than purely societal communities and see that we've greater in elementary than we do changes. we would take care of one yet another with greater dignity and admire and have much less vanity issues.

No, "diversity" is the biggest myth ever concocted by man. all great societies have been mono-racial, the us survives only because other races self segregate and form "mini-nations" within the borders.

If everyone is the same then the communists win plain and simple, we need different people so we aren't one sided in government or any other aspect of life, individuality is a great gift.
