Many school buses are "Board Owned," or owned by the school board.

Other buses are owned and operated by a contractor, a company that is paid by the school board to transport students. A couple of the big Bus Contractors are "Laidlaw," "Riggs" and "First Student."

While a student is on the bus, the School and/or Bus Contractor are responsible for the student's safety, and students are responsible for following the rules of the school and school bus.

In some school districts, the busing contract is outsourced, in others the school district actually owns and maintains the buses.

Does your bus say something like "Eagle Transportation" or "Smith Bus Company" on the side, under the "School District #347"?

Either way, if you get in trouble on the bus, you are still in trouble whether it's school property or a private transportation company.

I believe in some schools the buses are school property (although I don't know of any). Where I live, they owned by business owners. The schools hire them under contract each year or for two year terms. You'd need to call you school and ask them. The children can still get in trouble at school for misbehaving on the bus as it's still a school related problem.

yes thats why if you get into a fight on the bus you get in trouble with the school.... same thing if you were drawing all over the seats
