You should try taking the ipod and plugging it into you rfriends computer, and opening up either Musicmatch Jukebox or Windows Media PLayer. Somewhere on these programs there should be a place to view the songs that are on the ipod (or portable music device) Take these songs and add them to the library. I am not sure if songs that you got from subscription music sites (itunes, rhapsody, urge) will work. My guess id probably not.

If that doesnt work, then try plugging the ipod into the computer, and going into My computer. Make sure you set the settings so that you can view hidden files and folders. Double click on the ipod or mass storage device icon. Inside of this you will find a folder titled music. in there you should find the music. Then save those files to her hard drive. Subscription music will still probably not work, but its worth a try.

I think it was possible but now Apple has found a way to prevent that. I believe some updates have prevented this but its still worth a try:
Go to My Computer and find you iPod in that window. Right click it and choose 'Open as portable Media Device'. You will a seperate window that displays any portable media devices. Click on your iPod and this will open up your iPod and show its hidden files. There should be a file called 'Music' which contains a lot more files whos names will be displayed like F39 for example. All these files contain your music, with different names though. You can copy that file (MUSIC) onto your computer.
It should work but chances are that it no longer works. Though its still worth a try.
Good Luck!
