To answer this question, we must know what death is. Our mortal understanding is that we no longer exist in this world. Do we know if there is life after death? Most religions teach some existence but which is worse: living or dying?

Death is a choice.
Only thing worse than death is having no choice.

There are a lot of things worse than death : betrayal , such sufferences , ilnesses , despair , lack of someone or something very important . And , of course...immortality !If it is only in the same shape , hopeless.

Ostracism.
To be prevented from interacting with others - be they friends or not - and left to fend for yourself. To not have anyone to talk to - even if you want to - and to be under threat should you breach this edict.
Man is a social creature. He needs others to communicate with and to interact. When you deny this basic human right you destroy an individual on a most basic level.
"Man is not an island, entire unto himself..." John Donne.
