It's suggestive. Carl Sagan's Dragons of Eden runs through the calculation of how many times intelligent life should have evolved. It comes out to be a fair number, enough that if the assumpions are correct (and there are a lot of them), it is quite certain that there is intelligent life out there. That said, who really knows. We certainly haven't seen signs and not for lack of trying.

Yes. Although many factors had to be just right for life to start on Earth then it simply must have happened here. These other life forms are bound by the same laws of physics as we are so they'll find it as difficult to find (or visit) us, as we do them.

Yes. The surprising thing is how long it took from the first life to multi-cellular life, and how quickly things took off after that. Some people think the bottleneck to intelligent life is the transition to multi-cellular life.

Unless the other 'Solar Systems' were identical to ours in the sense of a similair sun and the distance between that sun and an 'earth'. i guess the principles of land matter in space too: "Location, Location, Location."

if there is and they have the same materials as us then they wont go anywhere else in space for a long long time.
