Well, yeah, I suppose it could, but do you have a pH imbalance?

Talk to your doctor before doing things like eating baking soda.

Go and see your doctor is a sensible answer.

However, adding baking soda to your meals could drop the pH level in your body but it won't last long. Best it will do is neutralise your stomach acid and render it useless for digestion whilst relieving and heart burn or indigestion.

The body is a finely tuned machine and needs specific pH levels to ensure proper functioning of enzymes and metabolic processes. Heard of homeostasis? That is the bodys way of maintaining a constant internal environment (pH, temperature etc). If you try to artificially change one of those parameters the body will automatically respond to minimse that change and return to it's correct operating level.

So adding baking soda to your drinks will have little effect on changing the pH of your body.

Since Sodium Bicarbonate would instantly be neutralized by the acids in your stomach, I think that this is an incorrect idea..... The end result would simply be that you would add more sodium to your diet, which is not usually considered a good thing. Additionally, your body gets rid of Sodium Bicarbonate through expiration, because it has far too much to begin with..... I tend to think that altering the Body's Ph is best done with exercise, which improves the Body's ability to deal with the Elimination of CO2 and Sodium Bicarbonate. The body always finds its optimal level..... Namaste, --Tom

Don't do it at all ! Ph levels need to be regulated by the body, or you can cause yourself illness. If you are concerned about a specific issue, visit your doctor.
