cable modem?

When I plug cable modem over USB connector to pc it works, but LAN doesn't. What is the reason?

this can mean the following
1. fault on the enternet connection on the modem( u would need to contact the isp for a new 1)
2. faulty enternet cable
3. the network card on the pc is disabled
4. your not rebooting the modem which changing cables since the modem stores the connection details
5. unknown windows fault.

Try Start > Run > CMD

ipconfig /renew

To see how the Ethernet adapter responds.
