good analogy- when your falling asleep, its like walking down a staircase, with each step makes you sleepier. there is a "pit" at the bottom, which is where you go when you fall asleep. usually, when you are near the pit, but still on the staircase, you fall off, and fall in the pit(falling asleep). this is wat most people expeierce most of the time, but for me, this one night, i kept on "walking" down the stairs, and i dindt fall asleep. all of the sudden, my body went completely numb, (tingling), and i couldnt move. i tried screaming, but i couldnt. i was stairing at my celeing(i wasnt dreaming). what kind of condition/whatever is this? thanks,

Instead of fighting the sensation just relax and "go with it". It happens to a lot of people. There are even radio shows that discuss it. Check link below.

Sleep paralysis
This is a common disorder relating to the way your brain is entering it's sleep cycle. I dont know all the specifics on this, but here are a few details.
When you enter deep sleep, your brain essentially cuts the connection to your body, so you lose feeling and ability to move, and it is presumably a natural mechanism which keeps you from thrashing about or walking away while you're sleeping.

In some people's brains though, there is a reaction where their body will be entering a deep sleep mode, but the conscious mind kicks in, or remains active.

In some cases people will even see things like lights, or people; and because of this, it has been attributed to many cases where people say they were visited or abducted by aliens.

It can be disturbing, but in many cases it can be treated with a prescription. I recomment seeing your doctor, and telling him/her about this. They will probably recommend you to a doctor who specializes in sleep disorders.

It's called sleep paralysis and is quite common. Many people experience it occasionally. There is no need to scream, nothing to fear. It's simply a phase where the body is disconnecting from the senses in order to rest and experience sleep. Relax and you'll soon be dozing gently and drifting into sweet dreams.

Sleep paralysis, happens to me all the time. Just relax and you'll wake up again just fine.
