It means that when something is played backwards it has a hidden message in it.The brain hears things forward and backwards so it hears the hidden message."Another one bites the dust" played backwards says"it's fun to smoke marihuana"
(and 86% who listened to that song ended up being addicted to marihuana)Most of the time the message sounds evil saying this having to do with satan and other satanic stuff, but others are purposely put there and are harmless to the brain. It's not always having to do with music though. There can be pictures that have them or plays and movies-things like that. So,basicly subliminal messaging is a hidden message.

A subliminal message is a signal or message embedded in another object, designed to pass below the normal limits of perception. These messages are indiscernible to the conscious mind, but are alleged to be perceptible to the subconscious or deeper mind: for example, an image transmitted so briefly that it is only perceived subconsciously, but not otherwise noticed. Subliminal techniques have occasionally been used in advertising and propaganda; the purpose, effectiveness and frequency of such techniques is debated

It's when a soft voice is put into music. You cannot hear it but subliminally you can. It's illegal. They used to use it in K-Mart and stores like that. It said, "you don't want to steal" and messages like that. It worked but they cannot use it any more.

Rent "Josie and the Pussycats" it's a cute movie that will explain subliminal msgs and how they are used in the media and entertainment industry. It's completely overexaggerated, but you'll get the point.

I means your subconscious picks it up, or in other words, you take it in without noticing it. Like if you get a subliminal ad for Burger King in your reading, suddenly you're hungry for hamburger, and you don't recognize how that happened.

Supposedly, sending messages in a way that you are not aware of them... theory has it that quickly flashed images of a product during normal broadcasting, for example, will influence your buying habits.
These flashed images happen so quickly, you do not register them visually, but you do mentally.
