It depends on ho far along you are, if you're very early on in the pregnancy you can have a d & c. further along you will have the suction, there is no "chopping off of limbs"...that is illegal here in the U.S., those who bring it up as a procedure for abortion are overly zealous pro lifers who love to use "scare" tactics to make their point. A late term abortion can require labor and deliver. You would have to check with the state of Colorado to find out their laws regarding paretnal notification/permission status.
D & Cs are relatively painless, with the suction you might feel physical pressure, labor and deliver are quite physically painful. Some women have periods right after some don't. Some side effects can be pshycological, if you don't take care of yourself there is a risk of infection.

Colorado apparently has parental notification but not consent. This means you have to tell your parents, but they don't have to agree. You can call this hotline - 1-800-772-9100 - to find out more information, including ways to get around talking to your parents. (You can have a judge give you permission not to, but act quickly!)

For an early abortion, the method used is called "aspiration." (Early means the first trimester, or about 3 months.)

First the doctor will perform an ultrasound or a pelvic exam. (The ultrasound is a little machine like a scanner that is rubbed on your tummy. A pelvic exam is when a doctor puts two fingers into your vagina and feels around with his other hand pressing on your abdomen.) This allows the doctor to determine how far along the pregnancy is.

For the abortion itself, you will usually be given a sedative to help you stay relaxed. In this type of abortion (aspiration), your cervix is dilated with some kind of a cream, and then a narrow plastic tube is inserted. The tube is hooked up to a machine that allows it to basically vacuum out the contents of your uterus. It takes about 2-5 minutes and usually a nurse will hold your hand. It hurts but not too bad.

Afterwards, you'll have some bleeding (possibly a lot). They will probably keep you there for observation for a couple of hours, and then let you go home. You'll need to take antibiotics for a while to prevent getting an infection - this is really important. (Infections don't happen very often but are really dangerous, so if you do get a sudden fever, go to the ER right away and tell them that you had an abortion.) Once the sedatives wear off you should be totally fine.

If you are more than three months pregnant, it will be harder to get an abortion, and a more difficult/painful procedure will have to be used. So if this is something you are considering, get working on it right away.

If you need more help with or information about this, please email me - I live in Colorado.

An abortion is ridding your body of the fetus, which is the same as giving birth. So, yes you will start to bleed immediately after the abortion.
My friend had an abortion, she claims it was very crampy during the proceedure but not painful. Her side effects while I cared for her was a heavy period (no tampons), moderate cramping (took Advil) and a bit tired. She was up and back to normal day to day life in about 3 days.
You could pull off a bad period with cramping and no one would know it. I would say Google your state and the laws on abortions without a parents consent.

you can only do this on your own, by your own choosing if you are over the age of 18 with out a parental consent.
There is a clinic in Downtown Denver.
You will be given a chance to speak to someone about this choice, to be sure that you are sure about your choice.
You will be given a valium to calm your nerves (so you will need someone to drive you there and take you home)
You will go in to the exam room, get in position as if you were going to have a well woman exam and they will dilate your cervix with three to four rods that are larger in size as they go. Nothing huge.
They will then suction out the uterous and you are done.
You will cramp, more than likely more than a normal period might cramp. Take some ibuprophren, advil, naproxen sodium any of those help and take it easy for a few days.

If this is your choice, please speak to someone afterwards about how to be responsible and protect yourself from having an unwanted pregnancy. If you are sexually active you know now that you can very easily get pregnant and that this is not what you want in your life right now. Take steps to ensure that you have a baby when you are ready and with someone who will support you as well.

abortion is murder it disgusting the only time i would actually maybe think its not so bad is if the person having it done was a rape victim.I don't know how people live with themselves...i don't normally judge people but i cant help it with this..careless people who just don't give a s**t..take more care and there would be no need for this terrible procedure.I don't believe your not going to have one.....all i can say is you will regret it eventually maybe later when you have kids you will look into there eyes and know that you killed one of your children, who knows the one you killed may have looked similar to the one your cuddling in the future but then again you might not have to worry about that cause some people cant have another pregnancy after abortion...good luck and i hope you make the right decision.

they use a vaccum if you are no more than 3 months pregnant. usually they ask you to be at least 1 1/2 months so you can have the abortion. they give you medicine for the pain and the infection before and after. it's painful but it doesnt last more than 4 minutes. you bleed but it's normal and it doesnt last more than 2 days (if everything went fine) if you keep bleeding or you feel pain you need to go back to the doctor. you have to wait 4 weeks before having sex again. i dont know about colorado laws though... check in your local parenthood clinic or in the internet.

Here, go to this site http://www.silentscream.org/
It will answer a lot of questions you have. Make sure you watch the videos, the will tell you what happens.

I have never had an abortion, so I dont know how it would feel physically...But emotionally, I imagine that it would tear a sane person apart.

Well let's see....they can either inject the fluid in the womb with saline fluid....which pretty much suffocates the baby. There have been videos of that type of abortion and the baby begins gasping for breath and opens its mouth real wide and dies in pain....OR OR OR I KNOW I KNOW...you could ALWAYS have it sucked out in peices (WHILE IT'S STILL ALIVE AND KICKING) with a vacuum type things....rips it to shreds ALIVE. Also...you could have them pull the baby out with forceps and stick a knife in the back of his head and rip out the brain...Hmm...why would you ask if you can get an abortion in Colorado without telling your parents....let's see...YOU ARE THINKING of an abortion, but you want no one criticizing you. Well, if you think any of the above answers that I listed sound fun for your unborn baby and life inside of you...go ahead...you're the a$$ though. It's not like adoption is a choice or anything. they generally take you in and do a D and C which is pretty well scraping your womb out so, you would have some bleeding but not a real period. After a d andC you often have bad cramping. as for you being able to have an abortion without yourparents knowing< I'm not sure, Are you old enough to consent for surgery yourself? if so, yes, if not, no. And if a docrtor or nurse informs yourparent against yourconsent, he or she can be sued and will probably lose his/her licence

If it is early term then after the procedure it feels like you just got your period. You have light to moderate cramping and some bleeding for a few days. You feel alittle tired if you are put out during the procedure...but by the next day you should fell almost back to yourself.......
