This past Sunday, I started birth control for the first time. On Saturday, I started my period. On Monday, my period was gone. I am sexually active but always use condoms. Did the birth control immediatley stop my period, or could I be pregnant?

Okay, I'm a bit confused... Usually docs tell people to start their first packet of pills or their first patch the first Sunday after their period. So hopefully if I'm reading this right that means you started your period on Saturday the 13th and then started the birth control on Sunday the 14th, right?

It would be highly highly unlikely for you to be pregnant, especially if you use condoms properly. And birth control does shorten your period and make it lighter. I noticed a difference in my very first period. You could just be highly sensitive to the birth control you were put on. Or the stress of starting something new also helped to shorten the period, because stress can do that to a person.

Unless you remember a condom breaking recently, or if you have a habit of doing a lot of foreplay that involves your genitals touching before putting on the condom, I wouldn't worry about it. Just for reassurance I would call the doctor, and you can always take a pee test in about a week if it would make you feel better.

Doctors are the best people to turn to in these situations, but I highly doubt that you are pregnant. Hope this helps.

Birth control pills do make your periods less heavy and shorter. Taking birth controls pills will make your period a bit irregular at the begining but is should regulate after the 2nd or 3rd month. I dont think you are pregnant but if you think there is a chance just go to the pharmacy and buy a pregnancy test before you continue taking the rest of the pills.

This is normal. Before I went on the pill, my period lasted for two weeks straight. But, when I started the birth control pill, my periods only lasted for four days. If you are really concerned, talk with your doctor. Remember, birth control does NOT totally protect you from pregnancy, it only decreases the chance.

It is highly unlikely that you are pregnant, the birth control pills covered you. I'm a little confused though, I thought was more time between when you started taking birth control and your period. If you are starting your period every 6 days, please call your doctors office, something is wrong.
