is it bad to charge it everytime the battery runs out about halfway (which is what i do) or is it actually better to wait for the battery to run out completely & then charge it?

Yes they do! After so many charges, the battery will die down MUCH quicker, because the battery can't hold a charge quite like it can when you first buy it. I think it gets worse if you charge it before it goes dead (or when its about half way) too, because it gets used to getting charged when it's at that level, and it'll think it needs to be charged when it gets that low (the battery develops some sort of memory). Sometimes, mine dies, so I give it 5 minutes, turn it back on, and it has at least half battery. After a TON of charges it will no longer hold a charge and will need replacing. I would let it ALL drain before charging it again, I heard it isn't good but it really is the best thing. Note: Even if you don't use your iPod everyday the battery will still go dead because of the clock.

Actually yes, but its not necessarily a set number of charges per say. The battery will however drain and lose its capacity over time.

With the battery in the Ipod you can extend its life somewhat by charging it when you are not using it even if its only down a little or half way. Dont wait to fully discharge the battery each time before you charge again as that will shorten its life quicker.

It depends on the type of batteries.

Some have what's referred to as memory, and each time you charge them, they retain a little less charge. However, the batteries in an iPod are probably advanced enough that the memory issue won't affect you until several years (or several hundred chargings) down the road.

If you're really paranoid, you could run it until it stops and discharges fully. You wouldn't have to do this all the time, but once or twice a month couldn't hurt.

there is not a set number of times; however, the battery ages and will eventually die and not be able to be recharged. Each time you recharge after so long the battery will not be able to be charged as much as the last time, but I think that you can recharge a few hundred times before that will happen.

All rechargeable batteries eventually wear out. But, I wouldn't worry about your iPod; the kit to replace the battery is not that expensive.

No, there's no limit to charging capabilities of iPod batteries. Charge it whenever you like.
