I've paid the bill, the automatic shut off date is next week, and the sky is as clear as ever. The Satellite outside isn't covered with anything, and there are no storms. It's not raining, and nothings blocking the signal. It was fine this morning, but now it doesn't work. I've tried to find a number for customer service, but I can't find one. If anyone has the number, or knows how to fix this, please feel free to say so.

First, the number to customer service is really easy to remember. It's 1-800-DIRECTV.

There are a few probable problems causing your reception issue. Your dish could have gone out of alignment. It could have been slightly out of alignment for awhile and finally it had just drifted off to the point where you can't achieve a signal lock any longer. Your LNB could have gone bad. This is quite likely; it happens. Make sure the cable connections the the LNB are tight and waterproof. Check the connection to the receiver as well. Your coax if not properly waterproofed could be waterlogged and corroded. This would require replacement of the cable. Another rather unlikely possibility is your receiver's power supply/voltage regulator used for generating the 13V/18V LNB voltage could have died. This can be checked with a DC voltmeter.

Also, even when your service is shut off, you will still be able to receive a signal. You just get a message that tells you to call customer service at a toll free number and a 3 digit extension (721 I believe?)

hmm, usually when mine says "searching for satellite signal", it takes a few moments, then automatically comes to another screen with a status bar, then once it's reached 100% it comes back on with no problems. maybe they made a mistake on your shut off date. have you tried to find their website?
