There's a doomsday clock? If you are talking about global warming, the temperature of the earth has increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Source: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temperature has risen much more than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue. The average temperature in the Antarctica is 109 degrees below zero. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica#Climate It seems to me 108 below (one degree warmer) is still pretty cold and not enough to melt anything. But there are those that say it will.

Back in the '70s all the hype was about global COOLING and another ice age was coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took many years to discover that they were mistaken and it was all just hype. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.

Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented. (Many do not provide any proof or links to prove their point, just their opinion.) With that said we do have a responsibility to do our part by doing whatever is within your power to keep our planet alive and well.

I hope that helps...

it truly is a type for the bulletin of Atomic Scientists. they seem a collection of crazies that scare each man or woman with predictions of nuclear holocaust, end of the international etc. They submit a e-newsletter that you'll connect. human beings are growing to have self assurance that the closer the hands are to hour of darkness the added drawing close is the great of the international. there might want to properly be some reality in that as those human beings meet once a three hundred and sixty 5 days and talk each little thing it truly is happening from Mayan prophecies to alien deliver sightings and draw their conclusions from all obtainable files. you could write to them at: 1155 East sixtieth highway Chicago, unwell 60637 In different words it truly is an advised wager.

The doomsday clock isn't a measure for pollution or anything like that.

A group of scientists are on a commitee who monitor the nuclear situation in the world (including nuclear weapons, power plants, and waste) it was recently moved up because of N. Korea's possible nuclear program, Iran's vow to begin an nuclear program, the continuted production of nuclear weapons, the amount of active missles (missles that have targets and could be launched) controlled by nuclear countries, and the increasing desire to build nuclear power plants.

The only way for it to move backwards would be large-scale disarming (particularly by the US and Russia, who have the largest stockpiles) and various activities designed to reduce risk of a nuclear disaster.

,sorry i dont think it can be done. maybe with ext rem violence by taking out all evil people and top scientists, but wouldnt that be the start of Domesday. throughout time there has always been war but nukes are new and not fixable
as with pollution and over crowding yeah that can be fixed by going back to little house on the prairie days, but over crowding will create a only the strong type will survive population .
sorry the clock tickssssss

In my professional opinion, the way the human mind works, the first thing we will think of is relocating to Europa, a habitable moon of Jupiter, the second thing naturally, will be to kill all of humankind so as we dont suffer, third we will think about researching immortality through cancer cell manipulation, fourth we will think of immortality through storing DNA, fifth we will think of using stem cell research to become immortal, and last we will think of manipulating time itself, of course, this will all be thought of over a long period of time. I know this through simple knowledge that humans come to the easiest conclusion first, most destructive second, most reasonable and wisest third, most generally possible fourth, currently researched fifth, and future possibilities last. This is a simple example of how the human mind works, when broken down, the most complex things can be explained simply.
