Here's mine: "Hush" by Deep Purple, covered by Kula Shaker. It was the main theme for that slasher flick "I Know What You Did Last Summer". Ugh, I couldn't even listen to the original for years.

Somebody taped a .mp3 for me that was a radio appearance ten years ago by members of the band Pavement. The singer, Stephen Malkmus, said, "Well, you know what, we're not gonna play one of our own songs, we're gonna do a cover. This song's been so overplayed--we're gonna try and kill this song once and for all." Then they launched into the Oasis song Wonderwall. To this day it is impossible for me to hear the song Wonderwall in any other light than the day Pavement played it on the radio.

well it's not so much a cover as a "stealing the music and ruining it"I fricken hate that Rihanna stole the music for S.O.S. from tainted love by soft cell...... ugh....
