What is the best ski town/resort EAST of the Mississippi River? And, where should we stay if we go there?

I know that the best skiing is out west, but we don't have the time to take such a big trip from Pennsylvania. We went to Snowshoe, WV last year and enjoyed that, but we would like to try somewhere new this year.

Stowe Vermont & The Trapp Family Lodge (it is run by the family who was featured in the movie "The Sound of Music"). It is really beautiful there!
