Ok, so since last march i have been bulimic. I started out at 302 lbs and i got down to 204. I recently got married in oct. Since then, my husband has discovered that I do this. He is obviously not happy. He expects me to just stop, just like that. I cannot do that. I have had some counsling, but that doesnt really help either, i keep saying that once i reach my goal of weighing 170 i will stop. I honestly plan on stopping. My husband says if i dont stop soon he is going to leave. I cant just stop like he is asking me to. He just doesnt understand. Any words on what i can say to him?

You need to stop. I can pretty much gurantee something really horrible will happen befor eyou reach your goal weight and it won't just be your husband leaving you. You should probably check yourself into an eating disorder treatment center. They'll teach you how to exercise and cook healthy. They'll help you get to your goal of 170 the healthy way.
A lot of people say they'll stop after a certain weight, trust me most of them don't no matter how much they say they will . It becomes an addiction.

You need to take him to a counseling session with you so someone else can explain to him that this is a disease and you need treatment. You really should stop now so you can start being healthy again. If you eat healthy, you will lose weight safer and faster than how you are currently doing it... You will feel MUCH better too since your body will be getting the nourishment it deserves. I don't think counseling will really work for you...you need to check into a treatment center and stay there for a while. This can kill you before you reach your goal of 170, you know that, right??

You really need to stop if you want to live a normal life.

A really good friend of mine, Melissa, had the same problem you do. She couldn't stand being overweight so she began forcing herself to vomit. 1 year after she starting doing it she began throwing up blood, it scared her but she was determined to get down to a size 2 before stopping. One day she forgot to flush the toilet and her mother saw blood/throwup in the toilet. She knew Melissa was just in there, and she confronted her about it. Her mom was a nurse so she immediately knew something was seriously wrong, she took Melissa to the hospital and they did an exam of her stomach. The acid in the vomit made her stomach and intestins actually break down, she had ulsers and also blood clots in her throat. They told her if she would have waiting to come to the hospital a month later she would have been dead. It's very serious thing, bolima is, Your husband probably doesnt mean it when he says he'll leave you but he's trying to do everything possible to stop you because he cares. Trust me on this, if you continue to be bolimic you could die a horrible death. Try talking to some friends about it or even a doctor, there are other alternatives to losing weight besides throwing up..

I am also bulimic and have to go to counseling. Believe me you say you will stop once you hit your target weight but deep down you know you wont. It is really hard for someone else to know what you are going through. Bulimia is like any other addiction you have to take one day at a time. The hardest part is admitting you have a problem and seeking help and I promise you it will only get easier from there. If you have any question or need to talk e-mail me:) Good luck!

Nothing you can say will make that alright. You are destroying yourself, and he is looking out for your best intrest, because he loves you. I know that it will take time to stop, but youre becoming different than the person that he fell in love with, and I dont think he likes that. You hid a major part of your life from him, and I think that thats part of why he is mad. You have to stop destroying your body though. I'm sure you look good the way you are, if you didnt god (if you believe in a god) would not have given you that body. There is a reason for everything, and you stopping your disorder as a couple will not only make you personally healthier, but it will make your relationship stronger.

Best wishes.

I think that maybe your husband should make an appointment with your therapist and let him or her tell him how difficult this illness is to deal with and how you can't just stop.

It would be the same as telling a smoker to quit or an alcoholic or a gambler or any other addictive personality to quit what they're hooked on.

In the mean time, YOU should still be in therapy and still getting help. You realize and understand that you've got a disorder; there are definitely healthier ways of losing weight than this...even gastric bypass is healthier and safer than this!

And please don't lie to yourself...you say you'll stop when you "reach your goal" but frankly you won't, for the reasons I outlined above. It would be like an alcoholic saying "I'll stop drinking when I've finished my 200th bottle of scotch." It doesn't work that way. Please, please, PLEASE get help for yourself.

You can say that you will get some professional help. Eating Disorders are nothing to fool around with. It is likely you will not be able tos stop once you reach 170. You will be too far into the downward spiral to stop. Go to a clinic or therapist that specializes in eating disorders. I believe if you husband sees you are making an effort he will not dump you.

Tell him that he does not know how you feel he just cant say "poof, now you are better" it is a real illness and you have to want to stop before you do, that even though you know that he loves you and that you appreciate his concern but that this is mainly your choice, tell him about your goal, infact the weight you want to be in is completly healthy.
If you want to recover please go to a therapist as soon as possible, the sooner the better! and you will find your goal in a healthy way.

You need to take him to your counseling sessions. You also may want to take him to your regular physicians appointments too. Your best interest is all that he can see right now and you can't blame him for that BUT he needs to be educated on the topic so that he can be more helpful and understanding.
I wish you luck and you really need to try real hard to fix this. You want to live a long and healthy life and your not eating correctly will shorten your life. Keep trying!!!
