I'm having a real problem figuring out what to write! It has to be 12-15 pages typed double-spaced. It basically just has to be literary based, something written in a book, magazine, poem, maybe a newspaper or MAYBE comic. I love the autor dean koontz. I also was thinking something about a Japanese manga reflecting what was going on in japan at the time it was written or about the time era it is soposed to reflect. I also like Elvis, maybe something about human behavior. Or something about secret codes/messages in novels. I want it to be something that ineterests me that way I can talk a lot about it and wont have to worry about length! PLEASE HELP THANKS FOR READING!

i would personnaly choose the manga, even though i ave never read any manga
the reason is that it would probaly be the one that you can go the most indepth about. you can describe the acitions/plot, how realistic were they
also, things such as the clothing or arcitecture in the background, there are many things you could compare to whatever timeperiod it was set on,

however, elvis and human behavior is more likely to sound more "professianal" and will probaly get higher marks if you can do a good job on it (but if you cant, then the manga idea wont exactly get you LOW points, it just wont be viewed with as much prestige).

You could get a lot of material out of the graphic novels Maus (biography of Jews in Germany during WW2) and Pride of Baghdad (morality tale about the history of the Iraq told from the point of view of some escaped zoo lions)

Animal Farm would give you a lot to work with (History of the rise of communism in the USSR told through farm animals - lots of people have written lots about it, making it an easy tropic to research)

I don't know if that's the kinds of codes you were talking about or if you meant more like code-breaking

I believe that Cryptonomicaon is a story about code-breaking.

Find a poem that means a lot to you personally and expound on that. Fun poems include Carrol's Jabberwocky and The Hunting of the Snark. (An interesting approach to the Jabberwocky, over the years people have said that the poem was allegory and made various interpretations of it. Carroll said it was just nonsense. It might be interesting to break down some of the interpretations)

Maybe you could ask your teacher if you could take the lyrics to one of Elvis' songs and treat it as poetry

Hope this helps

What to write for Your Paper?
Your interest in the topic is important. Japan sounds interesting to me, yet, you have to want to write it. Whatever you write on, a preliminary table of content is mandatory. Otherwise one may repeat in different words and scatter the thoughts and facts throughout the text.

Later, you may adjust your table of content to the actual text. Many writers have started writing without a table of content. Then it was a major task to get the text in order, gather the thoughts that belong together etc. It is easy when you do it up front, before starting to write!

Suggestions:
* Decide on work topic (e.g.Japan or whatever you decide).
* Gather material, make notes, get clippings/copies etc.
* Make a preliminary table of content (introduction, main part, conclusion).
* Write each chapter.
* Adjust the table of content.
* Add graphics to yor paper if allowed and wanted, it makes pages come to life.
* Give it a great title, not too long!
You will have 15 pages, fast!
