There is no such thing as a normal couple. You can make love a often as you like...it just depends on your mood. If you and your wife want to have sex 10 to 20 times a day....it's your choice. There's no limit to how often you're suppose to have sex. Enjoy your marriage!

Of the 11 answers so far that don't say "as much as you want" or "21 times a day", the total listed was 32 times, so 32 / 11 = 2.9 times a week.
Which I would consider high for married couples. Honestly, I would say it's once a week if you are average, more if you are extremely lucky.
I'll bring the average down by saying it's been *624* weeks (that's right -- 12 years) with no sex.

There is no actual number you can place on love. If you're just having sex, it could be 10 times a night.
However many times a week is right for you, the number of times diminishes over the years in a long term relationship
Love and companionship is what you get out of lasting relationships.

I believe it depends on the couple, their individual sex drives, and where they are at in the relationship (e.g. the initial stages of dating, or married 40 years etc..).
In the hot n heavy stage, it's not uncommon for couples to have sex multiple times a day/week. But as the relationship progresses... things settle down or become 'staid' (for some people)... and I think it goes down to 2-3/week.
