I had my tubes reversed 06/23/2006 in hopes of getting pregant again. In November 06 I found out I was pregant. We were so excited. My husband is 28 where I am 37. This would be our first child together. I was getting my blood drawn as advised my Dr. Berger (Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal). When it came time for my ultra sound it was heart breaking. I was 7 weeks pregant in my right tube. The pregency was so high up the doctors thought I would loose my ovary as well. To make a long story shorter, I now have only the left tube. Due to the scare tissue from having my tubes tied and then reversed the navel doctor's recommended I not try again but opt for IVF. We are torn, what do we do? We are not rich people and can not afford IVF right now. We want a baby very much though. My question is "Has this happened to you or someone you knew" What are my odds of natural conception?

I've not faced the same situation, but I had trouble conceiving. You should call a fertility clinci (reproductive endocronologist). Talk with them. They were so helpful our first phone call!! We never had so much information and all our questions were answered IN DEPTH!

Our clinic took payments. They told us the insurance that covers the most and we switched insurance companies. Although no carriers cover IVF but it may help with ultrasounds and blood work. We were able to pay as we went except some of the meds had to be put on the credit card.

I have a friend who underwent many IVF treatmentments (4) before actually getting pregnant on the fourth. She maxed out every credit card and pulled money from friends, family, and whatever equity she had in her home. They even sold their car. But, she now has twins!!

You can find the money and they will work with you.

Best of Luck!!

PS: If it's scar tissue Clomid won't help. The problem is the egg is not moving to the uterus. Usually the egg is picked up by the tube and placed into the uterus for fertilization. If there is scarring the process is marred making movement to uterus impossible.

If this is something that you aren't willing to accept as a diagnosis seek another opinion. Also, a reproductive endocronologist (fertility specialist) can take a look at your initial visit and tell you right about your fertility and tube situation. This is their speciality!

Reading Dr. Siber's Getting Pregnant with Today's Technology was a blessing!

I'm not in the same same situation as you but I'm 37 and pregnant for #5 and I only have one ovary. The other was removed due to an ovarian cyst before I had children. Are you going to be able to afford IVF in the near future? With only one tube I'd be a bit afraid of damaging the other if you had another tubal pregnancy.

I've read that people have a higher chance of tubal pregnancies after having a tubal reversed. So, if you want to risk losing your last tube, then go for it. Try to get pregnant naturally. Your odds will be cut in half (at least) since you'll only ovulate every other month.

I have heard of women getting pregnant when their tubes are tied!!! Now that might be annoying, but I don't see why you can not get pregnant. He might be saying IVF because there is too much scar tissue for the egg to fall through, but maybe there are other alternatives that are cheaper... maybe clomid to get you ovulate more and then try the iui, it is much cheaper and is done in the Dr. office. Good luck.

sorry to hear your having a hard time..
my gran was born with old one tube and she had 3 girls including my mum, and my mum was born with a twisted tube that had to be removed and she had me and my sister.
it took a few loooong years for my mum to get pregnant and she did have a miscarriage too but it did happen.
thankfully me and my sister have not had the same problem and we have a boy between us, however even though there is nothing wrong with my tubes it still took me 7 months to concieve.
basically anything is possible, and you still could get pregnant naturally, however if the risks of concieving naturally are more damaging to your health and are likely to make you even less fertile its not worth it and would be better if you saved up for IVF
goodluck to you and i wish you all the best in getting the family you want

I really feel for you, and am so sorry for your loss. I don't know the answer to your question but I really hope things work out for you. I think you probably need to take the advice of the specialists and think about what having a baby really means to you and your husband - and about what not having a baby would mean.

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

Go to a fertility specialist. You could look at taking clomid to increase your ovulation. Taking clomid would be a whole lot cheaper than ivf.

haveing one tube should not effect your chances of concieving as far as the scar tissure it would just depend on how much. does it block the tube? if there is blocking withing the tude then yes you will need IVF.
