Texas is so big that living in different regions have different weather patterns. For instance, El Paso is definitely in a desert area and Caddo is a swamp.
I live in West Texas close the the 90 degree angle that is New Mexico. When I was growing up this area was considered desert but the water table has risen and our climate is wetter and more non-desert plants grow here more easily now. But there's not one mountain to be seen close the here - we have sand hills but no lake.
What I'm trying to say is this - it's not the weather that makes Texas a great place to live. It's the people, we are very friendly.
I work with someone who came to Dallas from New York and she said, when she first got here, she'd cut a wide path around anyone who said hello to her. Then she figured out hello and a smile meant hello in Texas. She said she'd never move back to New York because the people are rude.
I don't subscribe to that, I think people are friendly all over. But I love my home state and plan to never live any where else.

I live in Texas, near Dallas. The weather is good here, except for right now. LOL We don't have consistent weather, so... It's hard to judge what you should wear or make plans too far in advance during the winter cause it can go from 80 to 30 in a matter of hours. It's happened like, 3 times this year already. But I've lived in other states, and I would much rather live here than anywhere else.
Here's a tip: If there's bad weather outside, DO NOT go out. People here are so stupid when it comes to bad weather, it's not worth it, you WILL get hit.
And just FYI, If you don't live in Houston, they tell you not to go there, which is sad to say. Apparently it's "too dangerous".

I moved to west Texas about 4 years ago. For me the biggest adjustment was getting used to the miles and miles of flat land. The weather isn't bad. It's humid when it's hot but it usually doesn't get above the mid 90's on the hottest days. Usually it stays relatively warm during the cold season, but the last week or two it's been unusually cold.
It might be a difficult adjustment at first, depending on where you're moving from, but the people are nice for the most part, and it starts to feel like home pretty quick.
Good luck to you.

I was born in Texas and will never live anywhere else. I LOVE Texas, but don't like the cold, random weather in the winter! Love those hot summers though. Woo Hoo! Texas is the best state to live in. :)

Well I live in Texas. It depends on where you are moving as to what kind of weather you'll have the panhandle still gets lots of snow and cold weather. The Houston area does get cold weather but very rarely gets snow. The Valley is the warmer weather.

The weather is good. I have lived in Texas, but I won't ever again. It was just a bad match for me, but maybe your situation is different.

I live in East Texas and these are the friendliest folks in the world. It does get hot and dry in the summer but fall winter and spring are awesome.

I live in Houston and most of the time the weather is OK. It can get VERY humid and that sucks for us girls when it comes time to do our hair. It is either Warm, HOT, cool or cold. You Can not see the change in seasons here. WELCOME TO TEXAS!!!

I love Texas. I've only been to Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio and Corpus, but I do love it.
I think San Antonio was my favorite.
