As a scientific kind of person, the question for me is more if time travel is possible.
Time travel is possible to the future, Astronauts time travel all the time, because of the high speed of an spaceship, according to the relativity laws.
This effect has been measured, with atom clocks. the atom clocks in the ship get delayed, compared with the clocks at earth.
They only travel a few fractions of second to the future, but it proves that travel to the future is possible.
There are no observations that might indicate that traveling to the past, is possible. Besides, in theoretical physics, time is an impossible barrier.

Bringing up the theory of relativity would be a fine way to explain away the idea of time traveling if it were the only theory. Unfortunately, it works only on the macro scale and quantum theory, the science of sub-atomic phenomena, has shown that the reverse of our perception of time is possible and that it could be inherent in our super-micro world. But we have yet to discover a grand 'unified theory' which would explain everything and possibly give us the answers to this question as most people seem to perceive it. But, the "concept" of time traveling, which is the subject here, not the actual realization of physically transporting a human being to another defined point in the past, is a true theoretical possibility as given by quantum theory.

Nope. Not unless you're talking about the regular 1 second per second kind that we do every day. You can change the rate at which you progress in time compared to the rest of the universe, but not go back or anything. There's no reason to believe that actual time travel is possible and considerable evidence that confirms the theory of relativity which states that it is impossible.

it is a nice concept, but a concept it shall remain i am afriad. look at it like this, if we go forward second by second, then we find a way to go back, shouldn't there be time travellers here from the future? or if not, why is it no where recorded in history, seems like the thing some one would write about? and there is a lot of evidence to support its impossablitly

Einstein proved that time travel was possible in theory but you cannot go backwards in time, only forwards. If you travel the speed of light, you do not age. If you go on a journey at the speed of light, when you return, everyone around you has aged, but not you.

I ll prove using induction.
For every second you go back in time you can go back a further second.
When the earth was created you can go back one second earlier than that.
When the universe was created you can go back one second.
If you go back an infinite amount of seconds you can still go back one second before that and that.
I theory you could never get to now because you would always be one second earlier. Yet here I am. Hence I must be Dr Who.

Proof the time travel is not possible is that we don"t do it!
