I was thinking and I wanted to know why people feel this way. I heard that in some Asian countries they sometimes cook dogs among other things. At first many people squirm at the thought and then criticize the people who do eat this plate viciously. I mean, I think it is a bit abnormal myself but how can you justify this when millions of cattle are slaughtered to be served carelessly in fast-food joints and other places. I think many people have an attachment to pets, understandably, and it's fine to voice your opinions, but sometimes I think people go overboard and say horrible things to the few who actually eat this while munching on a Quarter Pounder burger from Hardee's. Thanks for answering.

Well I'm a cat person, so I kinda know why people are bugged by the thought of eating their pets. But like you said, a cow isn't much different. Every culture is different so some feel that eating cats and dogs are normal, it's like to the Afghanistan's and Iraq's the 9/11 attack on the US was a heroic act. There is so many people in the world that everyone is going to want to try different things and have different opinions between right and wrong. it's I think in a way similar to people hating cockroaches, frogs, snakes. I love that stuff it doesn't mean others have to. I think what I'm trying to say is that just because some don't approve of something doesn't mean it's wrong. I would just never eat my pets, but that's just me.

You have a very good point!! Yes it is hard for me to imagine eating a dog or cat but I don't think that we should condemn people that do. You mention people having an attachment to pets and I think~What about people that have pet calves or pigs. And I have known people that had both. And I think that the reason so many people don't see anything wrong with eating cattle or pigs is because that's how we have been raised. Generation after generation after generation. But what right does that give us to condemn people that have grown up eating dogs, cats or even horses. None what-so-ever!!

Most people don't eat animals that eat meat. No idea why we don't eat horses, except that it is forbidden in the bible. But then, so is pork and we eat that.
I suppose the answer ir tradition - we eat what our parents ate.
