1) Effect on young people: If no-one is smoking in public places then young people are less likely to take up the habit. If they can't see it, they can't mimic it.

2) Aesthetic value: if people aren't smoking in public places then they won't be throwing their cigarette butts in those public places. It should result in less litter.

well, you could do the health benefits it would have in places such as restruants
if you do that, you could tie the restraunt theme in with added money and profit, more people will be able to go to restraunts that they might not of before to do health concerns, (such as asthma).
