When emergency vehilces get into an accident, do they have to stop? I live close to a fire station and I see fire trucks racing down the street all the time. I also see jerk drivers not getting out of their way. If a fire truck should plow through a car while racing to the fire, do they have to stop or are they allowed to keep going with no questions asked?

we have to stop same as anyone but the other driver is looking a alot of heafty fines plus paying for the repairs to the vehicle

I think it is okay for them to continue on to the fire, after all it is the bigger emergency. If they do cause some sort of accident in the road, at least you know who the vehicle belongs to, and can always contact their superiors. They might have some sort of policy in place. Also in NC it is the LAW to get out of an emergency vehicles way.

oooo if they have to stop, I feel so sorry for those in the fire. especially if those in the car accident weren't hurt badly.

They stop if someone is injured, but if they are on their way to a fire call, they won't stop. It's a legal hit and run.

my tio's a fireman and if its
an emergency they have their
lights and sirens on then they
just go but they have to make
sure no ones in the way
