When I was about 7, my Mom's boyfriend tried to molest me. Somehow I had the smarts to know the situation was wrong, and I ran out of the house. I have no memory of anything else happening before or after this day, in regards to innapropriate behavior.

When I was about 9 or 10 I told my Mom, but he was long gone by then. For years now, I have wondered if there is anything I could do in regards to this? I know his full name, where he might live (or at least where his parents live). I just feel by not saying anything long ago, I have put other kids at risk. I often wonder if he did anything to my little sister who would of been 4 at the time.

I am now 25, so I assume it is way too old to even bother. I tried to search online, couldn't find anything. Does anyone know more abou the time limits to report such things?

Thanks

You have a very serious question that should be directed to the District Attorney's Office within your jurisdiction.

If I read your comment correctly, you seem to realize that action against the offender fades the longer ago the offense took place. By your own admission, you don't recall many of the facts anymore. That doesn't make this any less of an offense!

Having investigated enough sex offense cases within my own jurisdiction I can understand your emotional distress. At this point, as a minimum, I would contact my family doctor for counseling and the district attorney for advise!

Additionally, contact the law enforcement agency or District Attorneys Office in the jurisdiction of where you think this offender is now living. At least they can, as a minimum, put him on a list of "potential" offenders residing in the area. Should there be a crime such as your own....they can start with HIM!

Best wishes!

Most states have a clause that allows victims to report and the the perpetrator be charged for a certain amount of time after they 1st remember it, or after they are an adult! Many people civilly sue, like the kids who were molested by the Catholic Priest's. Some were prosecuted and are now in jail!

Some states like New Jersey has no statute of limitations. You need to look up Statute of Limitations in your state!

Many older children feel responsible for the what goes on with other siblings. Yours is a classic example, and probably the only reason you told your mother was that he was gone.

Sexual abuse perpetrated against' other members of the family is quite common as most children don't tell, and when they do, many are not believed! Though hard for you to understand, you did what you could as a child. It was up to your mother to protect the children, not you! You are not responsible even if something happened to your sister. The dynamics you are asking about are very common!

There is no time limit in my book for this kind of behavior. I'll hold him and you can kick his *** to holy hell.

MAKE SURE NO ONE SEE'S YOU.
