We've had a combi boiler installed. The back boiler is drained and disconnected from the central heating system, but cannot easily be removed. Can we use the stove as a log burner? If so, would the doors have to be open? (The stove is a Charnwood DX50iB)

Yes you could and I don't think the doors need be open. You should make sure the backboiler is empty and vented. If it is sealed it may explode.

You can for a short while, but without the water jacket it wont take long for the back to burn through, and then carbon monoxide will be able to escape through the vents.

Why not speak to the manufacturer Charnwood on the Isle of Wight Tel 01983 537799 and get their full advice.

Same answer as thecat ive done mine and had no problems . water tank at the back should be empty and vented.
