If 9/11 was really an attack on the USA by terrorists, why fly over a nuclear power station and on to the WTC?

I'm aware of all the theories about that day, from what Alex Jones has to say to the rest of the well documented theories that make the official one look...unreliable? If you believe the Dubya version of events, it was terrorists and nobody else, why did flight 11 fly over Indian Point Nuclear Power Station and not straight into it, thus killing millions instead of the few thousand souls that died that day? Surely the missed option would have been more desirable to Islamic terrorists? I ask only because what happened that day could have been so much worse, and thank God it wasn't, what actually happened was tragic enough, not to score points for 'conspiracy theorists'. Any ideas? Thanks.

They say that if Flight 93 that went down in Pennsylvania on 9/11 had hit the Three Mile Island reactor it would have rendered much of the Northeast uninhabitable for generations. I'm not convinced that TMI wasn't the terrorist's target. Why were they flying so low on a direct path 15 minutes from the reactor before the passengers supposedly took down United Flight 93?

This puts us conspiracy theorists to shame :( To think that missing a small target like a nuke plant thats low to the ground vs a large target thats high in the air was a mistake is ignorance. The Gov may have been behind 9/11 but this is far from proof that they were... The best proof I have heard is the fact that the Gov was running multiple tests of the defence system that made it impossible for the planes to be targeted and shot down in time. To think 4 planes could be hijacked and no one in the defence agency notice enoth to be able to launch some time of ground to air missle at them is retarded... Also I think the terrorist could have picked a much better target then the heavly built pentagon but that proves nothing also.

The WTC is a lot easier of a target, and would potentially cause many more immediate deaths. They were shooting for 20-50,000.

A nuclear power station is a tough target. Not only is the nuclear core extremely well encased in steel, lead, concrete... layer upon layer, but the nuclear section is rather small. Those big cooling towers that you see are just that- big cooling towers (like smoke stacks). Hitting them would just shut down the station and not release any radiation. They'd just be flying a jet into a wall of cement- if they could even hit it.

No- the terrorists chose wisely, if not simply.

THAT WAS A SMALL TARGET COMPARED TO THE TOWERS. THE TOWERS ARE A STATEMENT TO THE WORLD THAT THEY COULD HIT OUR FINANCIAL MIGHT. A PLANE AT A NUCLEAR POWER PLANT MIGHT DO ALLOT OF DAMAGE BUT IT WOULD HAVE TO HIT THE MAIN REACTOR. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHICH BUILDING HOLDS THE MAIN REACTOR YOU WILL DO NOTHING. THE BUILDINGS ARE ALSO DESIGNED TO WITH STAND AN IMPACT. IF THEY KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT REACTORS AND NUKES THEY WOULD HAVE BUILT ONE ALREADY. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THIS ATTACK WAS DONE BY TERRORIST WORKING FOR AL QUEDA. IF ANY BODY ELSE BELIEVES DIFFERENT THEY NEED TO RE-EVALUATE WHAT THEY KNOW. They attacked twice that day. The terrorists want to disrupt the world's finances with terror attacks aimed at that purpose and the United States because we are world leaders in finance. It was the WORLD Trade Center, not the United States Trade Center! Cutting a little power would have negligible effects for terrorism's purpose in this country, but it has a big effect in Iraq.

The WTC was a symbol. It was more important to the terrorists to destroy that symbol then to attack a nuclear power plant. To put the question another way, why have they NEVER attacked a nuclear power plant anywhere, not just 9/11?

Crashing into a nuke plant would only kill the workers on duty and the occupants of the planes. It would not crack the containment dome. Bin-Laden knew this. He was in the construction business. And they have many engineers at their disposal, these were not stupid people.

Containment domes were designed and tested to withstand a plane crash. This is well documented and the terrorists did their homework

The nuclear power station containment was designed to withstand an impact from a plane flown into it. The reactor would be shut down and emergency cooling initiated.

Moltar, many people say the terrorists were geniuses. They must be if they can pull off what they did on 9/11 from a cave. All that planning, strategy, communication, intelligence, flight training, etc...They were obviously smarter than the United States that day...if you believe the official story.
